How to Create Your First Listing On FarmLinkr

It Only Gets Better! You’ve set up your store on FarmLinkr with the essential details that will allow it to function effectively. You’ve customised the look and feel for your store to make it unique to you. Now it is time to create your first listing. Here are three easy steps for you to follow:

1. Create Listing Details

2. Add Pricing and Variants

3. Confirm Shipping Information

Below are the details of the three Simple Steps for you to follow:

After you have logged into your account, you will be directed to the vendor dashboard, from there select the ‘Listings’ tab which is highlighted in blue at the top of the dashboard. See figure 1 below.

Figure 1

1. Create Listing Details

After you have selected listings from Dashboard screen, click the ‘Create a new listing’ button on the right of the page.

See figure 2 below.

Figure 2

From the ‘Listings Details’ section you must upload images with good quality that best highlight your listing. Shoppers are less likely to buy when there are no images shown for the listing. Listings without images will not show up on the home page.

To upload the photo of your listing drag and drop your photo in the section that says ‘ Drop image files to upload (Or Click) to select and upload your image from your computer.’ Figure 3 below shows what the image will look like once it has been uploaded. You can upload many images to show as much of your product as required or especially if there are any different varieties you wish to include.

Figure 3

At the bottom right hand corner of the screen two options are displayed, these are ‘ Save as draft’ and ‘Publish.’

The ‘ Save as draft’ button allows you to save the information you have provided and return at a later time to complete the listing and this can be done at any time.

If you save your listing as draft to finish it later, you may follow these steps to open your listing and continue editing. Follow the same steps above to get back to the Listings screen. Click the drop down arrow and select Draft. Here you will see the listing that was started. Click the drop down arrow beside Action to the right of the page and select Edit. You will now be taken back to the screen to complete your Listing Details. When you have published listings, you may follow these same steps to edit them by choosing Active above instead of Draft. See figure 4 below.

Figure 4

In the Title field, enter the name of the item you are selling. For e.g. ‘Strawberry’. Enter the amount or unit being sold for this listing in brackets beside the product name (e.g. 50lbs, 1 doz or 1 pk). See figure 5 below.

Figure 5

Be sure to categorize your items as either Retail or Wholesale. In simple terms, Retail implies that you (the store operator) sells to the consumer such as householders for home use, whilst wholesale implies you sell your listed items in bulk quantities to the other businesses such as restaurants and other resellers who then sell it to the consumers.

You will then need to choose the subcategory for your items from the next drop-down list, such as Fruits & Vegetables. See figure 6 below.

Figure 6

If there is a video link that highlights your listing which you think your shopper may find useful, feel free to provide it. The Brand, SKU and Video URL are optional. See figure 6 above. There must be a product description, to describe the product features and why persons should buy. Type the details into the box provided. See our example in figure 7 below. Enjoy an added feature that allows you to use keywords that shoppers may include when searching your listing. For Meta Tag Titles, here you put the name of your item listed along with important keywords such as Buy and online. For Example, Buy Juicy Red Strawberries online. Also if your product is locally grown it would be best to add in Jamaican. This title is the one that will be used by Search Engines to find your item online and represents what persons are likely to search for. See figure 7 below.

Figure 7

For Meta Tag Description, you may copy and paste part of the description you wrote for your Meta Tag Title and then add in a few important keywords that will increase relevance for shoppers searching online. See our example in Figure 7 above.

Tags are additional keywords to the Meta Tag Titles and Descriptions that can help shoppers to find your listings more quickly and easily. For example, if you are selling strawberries and someone searches for fruits and vegetables, you would want your strawberry to show up. So you Tag strawberry to fruits and vegetables. Keywords or tags are separated by a comma. Examples of keywords or tags are shown in figure 7 above, other examples include: Jamaican Vegetables, Jamaica producers, Online farmers market, Farm fresh produce and Farm Fresh Delivery.

For all your listings, you should incorporate as many of the keywords into your description as possible. This should be an accurate description of your items. These changes will help the listings to show up more in the search results online.

You have now completed the Listings Details. It is now time to Add Pricing and Variants.

2: Add Pricing and Variants

Scroll to the bottom or top of the page then select the ‘Pricing & Variants’ Tab. This is highlighted in blue right off the ‘Listing Details.’ See figure 8 below.

Figure 8

In this screen, enter the Price for the listing. In our example, this is the price for the entire 50lbs.

Also enter the Quantity of the listed item that is available. For example, if the listing is for a 5lb package of product, how many of these does the store have available to sell? This ensures you don't have persons buying and paying for more product than the store has available. Once the number of items has all been purchased, the store will auto reflect that the item is now out of stock. You will then receive a notification in the mail to update the stock. So if your listing is for a 50lbs package and you put 10 in the Quantity field. This means you have ten 50lbs packages to sell, or 500lbs.See figure 9 below.

Figure 9

You have the option to run a sales promotion for your item. You can do this by checking the box next to “Is this item on sale?” and entering the sale price in the Sale Price field.

It’s now time to Add Variations. Click the ‘Add Variations’ button at the bottom left of the screen. This will allow you to provide more details such as size or colour variations for your listing. See figure 9 above. If your listing does not have any variations, you can skip over this section and move to Step 3: Confirm Shipping Information.

Once you have selected ‘Add Variations’ you then click on ‘Add a Variant’ highlighted in the blue box. See figure 10 below.

Figure 10

On the next screen, enter the variant-specific to the listing, some examples are size or colour. See figure 11 below.

Figure 11

In the Name the option box, enter the name of the size variation, such as Small, Medium or Large. For each size variant you provide, select the ‘Add’ button to the right. Once you have completed the variants for the listing be sure to select the ‘Update’ button. See figure 12 below.

Figure 12

Another example of Variations is for colour, such as in green, red and yellow sweet peppers.

See below the added variants and how it will appear. Be sure to list the ‘Price’ for each variant as well as the Quantity. This will allow shoppers to see the available options and the price for each when they are making their selections. See figure 13 below.

Figure 13

3. Confirm Shipping Information

Click the Shipping tab highlighted in blue on the right of the Pricing and Variants tab, to go to the screen. Here you observe that the shipping profile information that you provided when you were setting up your store is automatically populated.

Enter the total number of days it will take for the item listed to be dispatched. See figure 14 below.

Figure 14

You also have the option to provide a short message that you would like to be displayed for this specific listing. For Example, Strawberries are available during the periods May to August. See figure 15 below.

The weight of your item should be entered so that persons have clarity on exactly what you are selling them. So if it is 1lb that you are selling as a unit and your price is for 1lb of strawberries, for example, you should enter this in grams, so 454g makes 1lb. Please only enter the number, no letters are allowed in this field. This will show up when shoppers view your listing.

The length, width and height fields are all optional and can be left blank.

Figure 15

Once you have finished entering all the required details and are happy with your listing, you may now Publish it to the website and Homepage by clicking the Publish button in the bottom right of the page.
